About us

Established in 1962, the NIPSEA Group has its headquarters in Singapore, where the first Nippon Paint factory in Asia was also set up. Since then, the company has evolved into one of Asia’s foremost paints and coatings enterprises, operating 65 manufacturing facilities across 15 countries and regions (excluding Japan).

Today, the NIPSEA Group employs over 16,000 people across these markets, efficiently managing every aspect of the business — from manufacturing to customer service — to ensure comprehensive operational excellence.

Nippon Paint was founded in Tokyo in 1881 by Mr. Jujiro Moteki and has since grown to become the largest paint manufacturer in Asia. As the pioneer of Japan’s first paint production facility, we have expanded into a global leader in the paints and coatings industry. Our century-long success is driven by our unwavering commitment to our customers. Guided by the core principles of Innovation, Service, and Leadership, Nippon Paint envisions a future that promotes harmony between people, nature, and society.

History of Nippon

In the latter half of the 20th century, the relocation of manufacturing operations overseas accelerated — a trend that continues into the 21st century. Nippon Paint took its first step toward internationalization in 1962, forming a joint venture in Singapore.

Today, our global footprint includes approximately 30 companies across Asia, North America, and Europe, encompassing both production facilities and corporate offices. These entities serve as the backbone of our global expansion strategy. As global competition intensifies, the ability to respond on an international scale is more critical than ever.

Building on over five decades of overseas operations, we are committed to establishing ourselves as a truly multinational enterprise — operating without borders and striving to make “Nippon Paint” a globally recognized name.

Since 1962, Nippon Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. has been a key strategic shareholder in the NIPSEA Group, supporting its growth and expansion across Asia and beyond.
